Welcome to my little space on the internet. I’m a programmer by day and – well, I guess also by night. It probably doesn’t come as a surprise that this is also yet another tech blog.
My approach to software is deeply inspired by the philosophy around software you can love, handmade, suckless, the free software movement and the ways of the elderhackers of days past.
Most of my code is hosted on Forgejo and,
just for good measure, built with Forgejo
Actions. For some reason most
of you folks are absent there. So you can find me on
GitHub too. I also host a public
link shortener and a shared
countdown. Feel free to use
them, but please don’t abuse them. — not anymore, just wasn’t
worth it. Also take a look at my other projects.
I recently started to build my own theme for this blog, so you might find some oddities here and there. Nevertheless, I hope you find some interesting bits to read too.
If you like this blog and wonder how it is made: The blog itself is built with Hugo and a completely custom theme. The idea is that it is simple but functional with an understated elegance.
This blog tracks some minimal analytics with https://umami.is. I did put some effort into choosing a minimal provider which is GDPR compliant, Open Source and protects your privacy. This site is using the cloud hosted version with servers in the EU. The data is used for nothing else than feeding my personal curiosity about which posts are read (if any at all) and from where.
The blog has no comment sections because I haven’t found a solution that isn’t cursed and simple to maintain. The time I’m willing to invest into a commenting system is in direct relation to the expected usage, which is currently pretty much zero (initial setup does not count). If you know any setup that fits this arguably narrow shoe, please let me know.
If you you want to get in touch drop me a line at blog@friedl.net.
